Have you ever received a Word document that contains images, and you needed to extract those images? If so, you know that it can be a pain to do this manually. You have to open the document, right-click on each image, and select Save As. This can be time-consuming, especially if there are a lot of images in the document.
There is a better way to extract images from a Word document.
Microsoft Office files (such as .docx, .pptx, and .xlsx) are compressed files that contain all of the data for a Microsoft Office document. This includes the text, formatting, images, and other elements of the document. Both of these methods work on ANY of these Microsoft Office files.
Using 7-Zip
To extract images from a Word document using 7-Zip, you can follow these steps:
- Download and install 7-Zip.
- Right-click on the Word document and select 7-Zip > Extract to.
- In the Extract to dialog box, specify the location where you want to extract the images.
- Click Extract.
7-Zip will extract all of the images from the Word document to the specified location. You can then open the images in any image viewer.
Without 7-Zip, the “Rename” method
If you don’t have 7-Zip installed, you can still extract images from a Word document. Here are the steps:
- Right-click on the Word document and select Rename.
- Change the extension from “.docx” to “.zip”.
- Double-click on the file to open it as a zip file.
- Locate the folder that contains the images. The folder name will typically start with “word” followed by a number.
- Copy the images to a different folder.
That’s it! You’ve now successfully extracted the images from the Word document.
