How to use PPTX Color Theme Converter

  1. Drop your PowerPoint file

Drag a .pptx file onto the drop zone, or click to browse.

  2. Review the mapped colors

Click any swatch to adjust it. The Storyline-only slots (Control 1, Custom 1 and 2, Correct and Incorrect) are generated from your palette.

  3. Name the theme and download it

Set the theme name at the top of the results, click Download XML and keep the default Custom_1.xml file name.

  4. Copy the file into Storyline's themes folder

Show hidden folders in File Explorer, open %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline, then your version folder, user and themes, and copy the file in. If Custom_1.xml already exists, rename yours to Custom_2.xml.

  5. Apply it

Close and reopen Storyline, then open Design, Colors. Your theme appears in the dropdown.

When to reach for it

  • Your brand colors live in a PowerPoint theme and you want them in Storyline.
  • You use Captivate or Lectora and want the hex values without digging through the deck.
  • You are tired of entering Storyline's color slots by hand.

FAQ

Which authoring tools does it support?

Storyline, Captivate and Lectora. For Storyline you download a theme XML. For the others you click any swatch to copy its hex value.

What if I have no themes folder?

Create any custom theme in Storyline first (Design, Colors, Create New Theme Colors) and save it. That makes Storyline generate the folder.

Is my PowerPoint file uploaded?

No. It is processed locally in your browser.

Which colors are generated for me?

The Storyline-only slots: Control 1, Custom 1 and 2, Correct and Incorrect.
